CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral uses the most gentle yet specific touch focusing on the central nervous system to aid the body in releasing restrictions on pain, stress, and a healthy flow of the physical and emotional energies. This modality  relieves migraines, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain.

CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger style) focuses on the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. Practitioners believe that these membranes and fluids are interconnected and that any restrictions in their movement can lead to pain and dysfunction throughout the body.

CST is based on the idea that the craniosacral system has a natural rhythm, which is sometimes referred to as the craniosacral pulse. This pulse is very subtle, but practitioners can feel it by placing their hands on the head and sacrum. They believe that by gently manipulating the craniosacral system, they can help to restore the natural rhythm and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.

What are the Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy?

CST is thought to be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including:

How Does Craniosacral Therapy Work?

CST is a very gentle therapy, and practitioners typically use only their hands. They may use a variety of techniques, including:

  • Light touch
  • Slow, gentle pressure
  • Stroking
  • Oscillation
  • Pulsing

The goal of CST is to help the body to heal itself. Practitioners believe that by gently stimulating the craniosacral system, they can help to release restrictions and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This can lead to a number of benefits, including reduced pain, improved range of motion, and better overall health and well-being.

Is Craniosacral Therapy Safe?

CST is generally considered to be a safe therapy. However, there are some potential risks, including:
